New startegies by the state tourism

Following specific directions from Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the State Tourism Department and the Education Department have together initiated a special project to ensure that school students across the State get familiar with the tourist destinations and their relevance. Under the project, authorities are now promoting tourism clubs among school students. With already 100 tourism clubs in its city, the state plans to celebrate year 2006 as ‘Year of Tourism’ as part of which 200 more clubs will be formed. These clubs will be managed by senior teachers, who’ll organise field trips apart from organising tourism related quiz programmes, talks and other related activities. The tourism and education department received specific guidelines from the Chief Minister last month, informing the authorities to ensure that the school students visit all the possible tourist places in their districts and also prepare a report. Ahmedabad and Vadodara are among the districts with leading number of tourism clubs.
