Temple demolition drive put on hold
Friday, November 21, 2008
After strong objection form the VHP, Modi government has put on hold the temple demolition drive in Gandhinagar.
The demolition drive ordered by the State government citing illegal structures as reason, has drawn critisism from VHP in particular. Congress party also opposed to the move pointing that only temples were removed while many other illegal structures in the State went unnoticed. After a meeting with the VHP leaders, Narendra Modi agreed to stop the demolition drive. --MP
