Six teachers were awarded life term for gang raping a 19 year old student in a government run Primary Teachers Training College in Patan. The girl who comes from a poor family was a resident student of the college and was subjected to repeated sexual assault by the teachers in Feb 2008.
The incident triggered wide protests from various quarters across the State.
Now after one year of the case, the accused are pronounced guilty by the court and also fined Rs 4000 on each of the culprits. The court also directed them to pay Rs 10000 each as compensation to the victim.
